  • Design advice and technical advice for the renovation of a 1930s bungalow, including turning attic space into living areas, on a 1 hectare lifestyle block near Levin

Recent projects

Residential (2011–2013)

  • Concept and developed design, and resource consent documentation, for a new 300sq.m hillside house in Roseneath.
  • Concept design and resource consent documentation for two new townhouses (three storey, three-bedroom, semi-detached) in Newtown.
  • Bathroom renovation for a 120-year old house in Newtown.
  • Advising school principal on 21st century design modes for redevelopment of classroom areas.

New school development on a greenfields site (2007–2010)

This work was carried out as an employee of Opus Architecture.

Margaret was responsible for the concept and initial developed and detailed design of Mahinawa Specialist School (Porirua).

She was lead consultant responsible for the initial engagement and coordination of specialist consultants in geotechnic, civil, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering and planning.

Margaret initiated, with the client, the engagement of a environmental Greenstar Consultant enabling the completed project to be a New Zealand Greenstar rated school.

Other projects

Tertiary education building redevelopment (2008–2010)

This work was carried out as an employee of Opus Architecture.

Margaret designed the initial concept and saw through the successful resource consent planning for the redevelopment of an automotive repair training facility for a local tertiary education provider.

The facility includes automotive workshops, panel preparation and painting facilities and teaching spaces.

Margaret’s role as architect on this project saw her secure the work through a limited competition and then develop ideas in partnership with the institution’s senior management and stakeholders to finalise the project concept design.

Residential design (2008)

This work was a private commission.

Design and construction documentation for major interior rebuild and renovation of Newtown villa.

The work involved a new internal layout for communal and private living spaces, realigning main living areas to north sun, opening up a basement with an internal staircase and designing a new kitchen integrated into the main living space.

Industrial and retail design and documentation (2003–2005)

These projects were carried out as an employee of Ignite Architects.
